Keith is our most illustrious fencer, having won many New Zealand, South Island and Canterbury titles and has represented New Zealand many times in all weapons. He was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for his contributions to sport.

Neil Cox - Vice President and Treasurer
Neil is a fencing parent and organises club nights at United. He also manages affiliation of members, applying for grants and represents United at regional meetings. He has taken on the responsibility of floor controller for Fencing Mid South (FMS) tournaments, organising tournaments that United runs for the region and events that we host to promote fencing. Neil reports on FMS activities and represents our executive and parents on our committee. |
Ross Younger - Online Relations
In 2020 Ross was secretary and acting President of FMS. He fences foil and épée for the club, region and Vets. Ross also referees and helps at club, regional and National tournaments. Set up video refereeing for NZ and FMS. Ross manages our Facebook page. He also acts as a liason between our club and Fencing New Zealand (FeNZ), reporting at United meetings on FeNZ and FMS activities. |
Brendan Lindsay - Armourer
Brendan is our club armourer, as well as being a long time fencer and former champion in foil and épée. Has been part of the club for much of the last 30 years. He currently repairs and advises about gear. Brendan is happy to show fencers how to maintain their own equipment, and checks equipment for tournaments and helps out on club nights. |
Sheldon Ogilvie - United Épée coach.
Sheldon is a NZ épée champion and representative, and is the founder of Pīwakawaka Fencing, an épée club with outreaches to several schools. He coaches in clubs and schools, helps organise and referee at tournaments, mentors fencers and takes teams away to compete. He is a great role model for our young fencers and coaches. At meetings Sheldon advises on coaching, fencers and school fencing. |
Tamsyn Campbell - Assistant Coach
Tamsyn is a FMS and NZ Épée Champion and national representative. She is currently a university student studying Sport Science. Tamsyn coaches foil and épée at United, Pīwakawaka and their school clubs. She referees and takes photos at tournaments, supports and mentors her students and assists the president. |

Alex is a United, FMS and NZ age group champ in Épée. He helps coach at United and Pīwakawaka and referees at tournaments. He represents University aged fencers on the committee.

Phoenix and Sabre Evans - Committee Representatives
Phoenix and Sabre are United and regional school and age group champions. They help coach and referee at United and at Linwood College. They assist with United’s coaching in other schools and help at tournaments. The boys represent secondary schools and primary schools on the committee.
